Partnerships
At Ballymurray NS, we believe that "it takes a village" to raise an active child. A key criterion for the Active School Flag is the development of strong partnerships with parents, local clubs, and national sporting organisations. These collaborations ensure our pupils have access to expert coaching and a wide variety of ways to stay fit.
We are proud to collaborate with some of Ireland’s leading sporting bodies to bring elite-level opportunities to our playground:
Connacht Rugby: Through our partnership with Connacht Rugby, our pupils engage in "tag" and non-contact rugby sessions, focusing on teamwork, agility, and the fun of the game.
Athletics Ireland: We participate in Athletics Ireland Cross Country events, encouraging our pupils to build stamina and enjoy the challenge of distance running in a supportive environment.
Cumann na mBunscol: Gaelic Games are at the heart of our school spirit. Our involvement with Cumann na mBunscol provides our pupils with the chance to represent Ballymurray NS in football, hurling, and camogie competitions across the county.
Roscommon Sports Partnership: We work closely with our local Sports Partnership to access inclusive physical activity programmes, ensuring that every child—regardless of ability—can find a sport they love.
Beyond the big organisations, we value our connections within the local community:
Local Clubs: We actively promote local sports clubs (such as GAA, soccer, and swimming) by sharing their registration details and inviting local coaches to provide "taster" sessions for our classes.
Active Parents: Our parents are vital partners in our ASF journey, supporting our Active Homework initiatives and helping us coordinate large-scale events like our annual Active School Week.
