Active Flag 2025/26
News September 2025
We are excited to share that our school is currently working towards achieving the Active School Flag (ASF)!
Launched by the Department of Education in 2009, the ASF is a prestigious initiative that recognises schools committed to building a physically active and energetic school community. It isn't just about winning trophies; it’s about making physical activity a natural and fun part of every student's daily life.
To earn this flag, our school is dedicated to:
Self-Evaluation: We are taking an honest look at our current PE programmes and the physical activity opportunities we provide to see where we can improve.
Action & Innovation: We are planning and organising new changes to enhance our PE curriculum, boost our extracurricular clubs, and find creative ways to keep everyone moving throughout the school day.
Keep an eye on this page for updates as we strive to make our school a more active, healthy, and vibrant place for all our students!

Meet Our Active School Committee
At the heart of our journey towards the Active School Flag is our dedicated Active School Committee. This pupil-led group features representatives from 1st through 6th Class, ensuring that every year group has a voice in how we stay moving.
We meet every month to brainstorm, plan, and lead initiatives that make physical activity an exciting part of our school culture.
Our committee members are the driving force behind our ASF goals. Their responsibilities include:
Leading by Example: Attending monthly meetings to coordinate school-wide events and encouraging their peers to stay active every day.
Pupil Voice: Acting as a bridge between their classmates and the committee, bringing fresh ideas from every classroom to our monthly discussions.
Event Coordination: Organising energetic school competitions, conducting surveys to find out what activities pupils love most, and helping set up equipment for our whole-school events.
Communication: Keeping everyone in the loop! The committee provides regular updates during our monthly school assemblies, highlighting the specific physical activity goals we are focusing on for the weeks ahead.
By putting pupils at the centre of the Active School Flag process, we ensure that our path to becoming a more active school is fun, inclusive, and powered by the children themselves.
